Lufthansa is installing Premium Economy – they revealed these seats yesterday, and the seats are good lookers, in my opinion.
The seats are in a 2-3-2 or 2-4-2 configuration, depending on the aircraft.
The seats are about 19 inches wide, compared to the 17.5 – 18.5 inch wide Economy seats.
They will install them right behind the business class cabin, which has fully flat beds.
The seats have a nice entertainment system and the cabin is quite spacious.
There’s even a stowage pocket.
The footrest looks pretty comfortable.
Another picture of the cabin…
However, there is only a small partition to differentiate Economy and Premium Economy.
A compensation for this are the seats that go pretty far back.
And the seat pockets, which say “Premium Economy” on them! Sweet.
The tray table slides out from the armrest.
Lufthansa will be running premium economy configured 747-8i’s to and from Hong Kong, and I believe these seats will be really comfortable. Unfortunately we’ll have to wait till November, since the seats won’t be installing until then…
